Jeombom is a Korean saju (Four Pillars) service: enter just your date of birth and it draws the eight characters of your Four Pillars and calculates your Five Elements, Ten Gods, Useful God, 10-year luck cycles, and yearly luck. Instead of difficult Chinese characters, we explain it in plain language, and for those who want to go deeper, Expert Mode shows the evidence — which position we looked at and why we read it that way.

Our saju calendar follows Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) solar term data. When setting the Hour Pillar, we correct for true solar time — Korean Standard Time is based on 135°E, but the central longitude of the Korean Peninsula is about 127.5°E, so we subtract 30 minutes plus the equation of time, which varies by date (about 14–44 minutes in total, depending on the date), to convert to actual solar time.
We also account for 12 daylight saving time periods (1948–1951, 1955–1960, 1987–1988) and the period from Mar 21, 1954 to Aug 9, 1961, when Korean Standard Time was based on 127.5°E. If you were born in these periods, your Hour Pillar would be off by one slot without correction. We take input in the solar calendar (if you only know your lunar birthday, please convert it to solar). Because the Month Pillar is set by solar terms, the result is the same whether a given day is expressed in the solar or lunar calendar.

What about the date of birth you enter? If you don’t log in, it stays only in this device’s browser . Saju calculations also happen inside your browser. If you log in with Kakao, your saju and compatibility partners are saved to your account (Jeombom’s servers) so you can pick up on other devices. When you request a reading, your saju summary and question pass through our server to generate the answer, but the conversation is not stored.
