2027 is the Year of the Fire Goat (Jeongmi). Here’s how each of the 12 Chinese zodiac signs meets this year.
In the 60-year cycle, 2027 is Jeongmi (丁未), that is, a Year of the Goat. When reading a year’s fortune, the first thing to check is how the year’s Earthly Branch, 未, relates to your own sign.
There are five main kinds of relationship. Three Harmony gathers strength, Six Harmony brings help from people, Clash makes you change places, Resentment brings small misfires, and with everything else, things go exactly as far as you push them .
Your zodiac sign is just one of the eight characters in your chart. Zodiac horoscopes are a guide to the big picture; a precise reading needs your Day Master (the stem of your birth day) and your 10-year luck cycle together.
| Sign | Earthly Branch | What 2027 is like |
|---|---|---|
| Rat | Ja (Water) | A year of unexplained misfires |
| Ox | Chuk (Earth) | A year of lots of movement |
| Tiger | In (Wood) | A year that goes the way you make it |
| Rabbit | Myo (Wood) | A year when strength gathers |
| Dragon | Jin (Earth) | A year that goes the way you make it |
| Snake | Sa (Fire) | A year that goes the way you make it |
| Horse | O (Fire) | A year that offers you a helping hand |
| Goat | Mi (Earth) | A turning-point year that overlaps with your final Samjae year |
| Monkey | Shin (Metal) | A year that goes the way you make it |
| Rooster | Yu (Metal) | A year that goes the way you make it |
| Dog | Sul (Earth) | A year that goes the way you make it |
| Pig | Hae (Water) | A year when strength gathers |
In 2027, Jeong Fire (丁火) and Mi Earth (未土) meet. Jeong Fire isn’t a wildfire; it’s the fire of a lamp or a hearth. It doesn’t spread far, it warms what’s close. Mi Earth is the dry soil of late summer, a place where things are held in store.
Together the two form Fire generates Earth (火生土), where fire feeds the soil. So rather than a year of big breakthroughs, Jeongmi reads as a year for building and consolidating. Rather than starting new things, the momentum goes to finishing and tidying up what you’ve already started.
| Character | Five Elements | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Jeong (丁) | Fire (火) | Lamplight fire — the power to warm what’s close |
| Mi (未) | Earth (土) | Dry soil — a place to hold and store |
| Jeong + Mi | Fire generates Earth | A year when fire feeds the soil — consolidate rather than explode |
Samjae (the three-disaster years) is decided by which Three Harmony group your birth-year Earthly Branch belongs to. Hae·Myo·Mi signs (Pig, Rabbit, Goat) enter Samjae in Sa·O·Mi years, and 2027 is exactly a Mi (未) year.
All three signs entered Samjae in 2025, passed through 2026, and exit it in 2027. This final year is commonly called Nal-samjae (the exit year). Being the exit year doesn’t make it simply bad. In saju, it’s read as a time to sort things out and tie up loose ends.
| Birth-year group | Samjae years | Signs |
|---|---|---|
| Hae·Myo·Mi | 2025–2027 | Pig·Rabbit·Goat |
| In·O·Sul | 2028–2030 | Tiger·Horse·Dog |
| Sa·Yu·Chuk | 2031–2033 | Snake·Rooster·Ox |
| Shin·Ja·Jin | 2034–2036 | Monkey·Rat·Dragon |
How much should you trust it? Samjae is a rule set mechanically from one character, your sign: three years out of every nine. Even within the same sign, the flow is completely different from person to person. What really shapes a year is your 10-year luck cycle and Useful God. Treat Samjae as a reference only.
Many people assume the new year’s fortune starts on January 1, but in saju the year changes at Ipchun (立春, Start of Spring). In 2027, Ipchun falls on Feb 4.
So anything that happens from Jan 1 to Feb 3, 2027 is still read as the tail end of 2026, the Byeongo (Fire Horse) year. A baby born in this window is also a Fire Horse baby in saju terms.
This page’s month-by-month flow also follows the solar terms. A month turns over not on the 1st of the calendar month but on the day the solar term changes. For the full explanation, see Why does a Jan–Feb birthday count as the previous year?.
1. Find your sign. Check your birth year in the table below. Note: if you were born in January or early February, your sign may be the previous year’s because of the Ipchun rule above.
2. Check four things on your sign’s page. Your sign’s relationship with the year; work, money, relationships and health; the 12-month flow; and whether you’re in Samjae. Read them in this order and the year takes shape.
3. Confirm with your eight characters. Of the eight characters in your saju, your sign is just one. Even within the same sign, results vary widely with your birth month, day and hour. Enter your birth date and you’ll instantly see what kind of year 2027 is for you.
The 2027 Samjae signs are Pig, Rabbit and Goat (all in their exit year). Birth-year tables and Samjae years by sign for 2025–2036 are collected in 2027 Samjae Signs: The Complete Guide.
2027 is the year of Jeongmi (丁未年), the Year of the Fire Goat. Its Heavenly Stem is Jeong Fire (丁火) and its Earthly Branch is Mi Earth (未土).
It’s read from the relationship between the Earthly Branch of your birth year and the Earthly Branch of the year itself (Clash, Six Harmony, Three Harmony, Resentment and so on). Even within the same sign, the real flow differs when the rest of the saju chart differs.
Samjae (the “three-disaster years”) is the three-year stretch that the three signs of a Three Harmony group pass through together. Classical saju texts never fixed it as lucky or unlucky; it’s more realistic to read it simply as a period of lots of change.
Draw the eight characters from your birth date and time, then look at how your 10-year luck cycle meets 2027’s yearly luck. You can check it for free on Jeombom.
Jeombom is a Korean saju service that builds its saju calendar from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute’s solar-term data and corrects your birth time to true solar time to calculate the eight characters of your chart.

| Solar terms · saju calendar | Solar-term data from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) |
| Birth time | True solar time correction — subtracts the 30-minute gap between standard time (135°E) and central Korea (about 127.5°E), adjusted by the equation of time, which varies by date |
| Daylight saving time | 12 periods applied: 1948–1951, 1955–1960, 1987–1988 |
| Former standard time | 127.5°E period from Mar 21, 1954 to Aug 9, 1961 applied |
| Input | Solar birth date (convert a lunar birthday to solar before entering) |
Because clock time and the sun’s actual time can be about 30 minutes apart. If you were born during daylight saving time or the former standard time period, your Hour Pillar can shift by one slot without the correction.
